Edward Buck enlisted in the UNSC Marine Corps at eighteen and excelled in marksmanship during training. A veteran of many conflicts and a highly skilled soldier, he was an ODST fireteam leader during the Battle for Earth.

Captain Dare is armoured and equipped in a similar style to an ODST, as she assumed tactical command of Alpha-Nine during the Battle for Earth.
